Sonora Caverns, Texas

We arrived Tuesday afternoon, set up camp, checked out the rock shop and waited for our tour guide. We are getting ready to head down into the Sonora Caverns. Our guide tells us we are going to descend over a 155 feet into the earth. The climate in the caverns stays a constant 70 degrees with 90% humidity. It will be a nice relief from the hot Texas heat. Need a good pair of shoes, light clothes and and no claustrophobia.

How's this for great formations?

Here are Chloe and Ayanna standing next to the "popcorn" formations. No, not the edible form.

All in all, it was a great day. That evening the stars were amazingly bright and filled the sky.

  3. Hi to Pop & Grammy from Gammy & Goozle (Karen and Seth). Thanks for including us as foreign correspondents for this fabulous trip. We're following you where ever you go. It's giving us ideas for things we can do when our two girls get a little bigger.
By the way, I think those popcorn formations look much more like cauliflower. What do you think?
    Continue to have a great trip. We'll be watching! K & S

  5. During the evening before last, young ladies, when I first encountered this photo of the popcorn formations, I had to get up and go cook a bowl full of popcorn for myself. Looks almost as good as a gingerbread house.
